El SCAD -The University for Creative Careers- es una institución privada sin afán de lucro nacida en 1978 por iniciativa de un grupo de profesionales locales que deseaban crear una institución que atrajera estudiantes de todo el país y de todo el mundo y que les preparase para desarrollar una carrera profesional creativa. Su primera sede fue la Savannah Volunteer Guard Armory, cuya estructura data de 1892.
Actualmente cuenta con varios campus, uno de ellos en Hong Kong; otro, en Lacoste, un pueblo francés del valle de Luberon, que conserva buena parte de sus edificios históricos, entre ellos la Maison Basse, donde el SCAD celebra sus cursos; etc.

The SCAD -The University for Creative Careers- is a private non-profit making institution born in 1978 on the initiative of a group of local professionals who wished to create an institution that would attract students from around the country and around the world and to prepare them to develop a creative career. Its first home was the Savannah Volunteer Guard Armory, whose structure dates back to 1892.
It has now several campuses: one in Hong Kong; another in Lacoste, a French village on the Luberon valley, which retains much of its historic buildings, including the Maison Basse, where the SCAD sets up its courses; etc.
It featured prominently in CeoWorld's list of the world's best fashion schools in 2023.
