La Universidad Técnica de Dresden es una de las mayores y más antiguas de su tipo en Alemania. Sus precedentes se remontan a 1828, cuando se creó para formar las generaciones de técnicos que precisaba con urgencia la industria alemana. Hoy en día cuenta con 14 facultades y unos 40.000 alumnos.
Entre sus centros está el ITM (Instituto de Maquinaria Textil y Confeccionista y Materiales de Alto Rendimiento), un centro puntero de la tecnología textil europea que forma parte de Autex, la asociación internacional de universidades textiles. También tiene una gran importancia su Dpto. de Ciencia de Materiales.
Dresden Technical University is one of the largest and oldest of its kind in Germany. Its history began to 1828, when it was created to train generations of technicians urgently needed by German industry. Today it has 14 schools and about 40,000 students.
Among its facilities we want to underline ITM (Textile and Clothing Manufacturing Machinery and High Performance Materials Institute), a leading European textile technology center, member of Autex, the European association of textile universities.
