Graduated the first promotion of Escodi as a center attached to the UB
Yesterday, July 11, was held the graduation of the first promotion of the Degree in Business Management of Commerce and Distribution of ESCODI as a centre attached to the University of Barcelona (UB).
12.07.2019 | The event of ESCODI (University School of Commerce) took place on June 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the historic building of the University of Barcelona. It was chaired by Dr Gaspar Roselló, delegate of the rector for the affiliated centres of the University of Barcelona and was attended by Mrs Montserrat Vilalta, general director of Commerce of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
Facing a new scenario
The godfather of the promotion was Mr Robert Vives, CEO of Vives Shoes and former student. The director and manager of ESCODI, Núria Beltran, stressed in her parliament that «the most important task that ESCODI is carrying out for the country is to favour successful generational relays and bring young and passionate talent to trade, a sector that is undergoing a transformation as never before because technology is changing our way of living, of relating and, therefore, also our way of consuming «.
The main characters
The graduates were 21 young people between 21 and 29 years old. A 70% them already work in the commerce sector; especially the result of the internship in the company, which a posteriori has made the job offer. Among these companies are Leroy Merlin, Decathlon, Rituals, Calzedonia, Tous, Quadis, etc. There are also 3 students who follow the family business of commerce in sectors such as fashion, a chain of opticians or a wholesale fish company.
The percentage of ESCODI university students who enrol to prepare for generational succession in family business enterprises is usually between 15% and 20%. The degree of labour insertion is very fast since 80% of the graduates find suitable work for their studies in less than 6 months.
UAB and UB
For ESCODI it is the 1st graduation as a centre attached to the University of Barcelona and the 9th graduating class of the University School of Commerce; since the 8 previous promotions were part of the proper title of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), which began to be taught in September 2007.
