Global Change Award closes reception of candidates
Global Change Award is already closing reception of candidates for its 2020 edition. Awards will be presented in Stockholm in April 2020
11.10.2019.- On August 28, the fifth edition of the Global Change Award was launched, initiated at the time by the H&M Foundation to contribute to the overall improvement of the sustainability of the fashion sector. In 2015 Pinker Moda did already speak about the launching of the project.
Deadline for submission of applications is October 16, 2019. The presentation of the five winners will take place in April 2020 at the Stockholm City Hall.
The ideas presented must have the potential to improve the circularity of fashion and be scalable. Other criteria are its novelty and its economic viability.
The group of winners will receive an aid of one million euros. In addition, its components may participate for one year in the Innovation Accelerator Program that takes place in Stockholm, New York and Hong Kong. Through this program, the H&M Foundation, Accenture and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology will also support the winners to realize their ideas. Neither H&M nor its Foundation will claim the benefits and intellectual property of the ideas submitted to the contest.
The prize organizing team is looking for innovations around three axes:
– The consumer. Innovations that give consumers more power to contribute to the sustainable future of fashion, for example ideas to extend the life of garments.
– Data and its digital treatment. Innovations that creatively use data technology to reduce the environmental impact of fashion.
– Design for Circularity. Innovations for any aspect of the fashion ecosystem, from the garment design process to new solutions for its packaging, with ideas for the reuse of resources.
H&M contribution to global sustainability
Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of H&M, has explained the achievements of this project. After five years of history, the Global Change Award has proven to be an excellent gateway for innovators who want to join the fashion sector and transform it from within. The winners of past editions have moved from their worktable to the market. They are inspiring new generations of creatives, scientists and entrepreneurs to reduce the global impact of fashion through innovation. The next ideas can appear anywhere, by the hand of any professional. If you have an idea, this is the place to present it.
This year – adds Erik Bang, director of innovation at the H & M Foundation – we are looking for innovations that help consumers to act with a greater sense of sustainability. We want to see ideas that make the fashion sector smarter and solutions to facilitate design with the intention of circularity.
