A student of Polimoda won the Young Talents for Sustainable Thinking
The Young Talents for Sustainable Thinking has been organized by Ferragamo and its last phase has taken place within Pitti Filati June edition
10.07.2019.- The recent edition of Pitti Filati, on knitwear yarns held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence at the end of June, organized numerous activities related to sustainability.
One of them was the Young Talents for Sustainable Thinking design contest. Its sponsor and main organizer was Salvatore Ferragamo. Its Museum of Florence shows from April 12 of this year until March 8, 2020 an exhibition on Sustainable Thinking.
The participants were asked to produce fashion prototypes in patchwork around sustainability and recycling. They could use fabrics and other raw materials donated by Ferragamo to their schools. The jury included representatives of Ferragamo, textile experts and fashion journalists.
Students from eight prestigious international fashion schools participated in it:
– Aalto University (Helsinki)
– Accademia Costume & Moda (Rome)
– Coconogacco (Tokyo)
– Donghua University (Shanghai)
– IED (Florence / Milan)
– London College of Design (London)
– Parsons School of Design (New York)
– Polimoda (Florence).
Camilla Conti, by Polimoda, winner of Young Talents Sustainable Thinking
The winner was Camilla Conti, student at Polimoda, from Florence, who had interpreted with creativity and technical skill the yarns of Linsieme Filati, from Montemurlo (Prato). With this, he won as a prize a scholarship of 5,000 euros that will allow him to make a course of creative design of point, organized by Modateca Deanna and the Accademia Costume & Moda.
Other participants also obtained scholarships to work in the style offices of different fashion companies. Among them are Alba Arillo and Olatz Altuna Zapirain, ESNE students, from Madrid, who will have access to the facilities of Biella Yarn by SuedWolle and Trafi respectively.
