LCI Barcelona paraded in the OFF program of the 080 BCN Fashion
The students of the Official Superior Degree in Fashion Design at LCI Barcelona showed their final year projects within the framework of the 080 Barcelona Fashion.
| 16.07.2019 | The students of the Official School of Design LCI Barcelona participated in the OFF program of the Catalan catwalk. The Disseny Hub Barcelona was the venue chosen to host «Memories of the Future», two parades with the artistic direction of Isabel Martínez in which a total of 42 students participated.
The students presented the result of many months of work before representatives of companies and the media. All of them, together with friends and relatives of the students, came to discover the talent of a new generation of designers from LCI Barcelona.
Awards to the best collections
The parades were attended by Claude Marchand, president and CEO of the LCI Education network; Sílvia Viudas, general director of LCI Barcelona; and Estel Vilaseca, head of the School’s Fashion department. All of them were in charge of delivering the awards to the best collections, chosen by a jury of professionals and experts from the sector. The winners were:
- First Prize: «L’autre» by Sofia Massuti
- Second Prize: «Six ninety-six» by Ainara Antxia
- Third Prize: «SKHIZEIN» by Sara Palma
Sustainable projects
Fashion and the environment must go hand in hand more and more. For this reason, one of the great novelties of this year’s fashion shows was B · SEArcular; the circular economy initiative that LCI Barcelona has led together with Epson and Seaqual.
Three of the collections that could be seen (made by the students Maria Molina, Maitena Vega and María Odriozola) were made with a certified Seaqual fabric obtained from plastics recovered from the Mediterranean by the Fishermen’s Association of Barcelona. Thanks to Epson’s SureColor printing technology, the students were able to stamp any design on the fabric using the ink sublimation technique. This saves water and energy compared to traditional methods. The resulting garments are completely ecological and, once their useful life is over, they can be recycled to become skeins of polyester yarn, thus closing the circle.
